We're searching for a Validation Engineer who shares our obsession for satisfied customers and best in class product quality. Working within our Quality Engineering group, you'll be a driving force behind achieving our quality goals with products that include HBAs, NICs, Sun's storage options, kernel updates, and patches. You'll be performing this work on Sun's industry leading enterprise-class systems!
Specific responsibilities for this position include creation of validation plans and their subsequent execution; working with our System Validation group to assure products integrate at the system level; filing bugs with product development groups and driving them to resolution; active participation in improving product quality using our Closed Loop. Corrective Active (CLCA) process; as well as other responsibilities too numerous to mention.
Description of Preferred Knowledge and Skills
High-level architectural knowledge of servers coupled with varied, multi-area expertise in two or more of: system software, firmware, I/O software, Solaris/Unix internals, or system hardware. java
and Perl programming experience, as well as the ability to work with test harnesses such as Tetware would help potential candidates.
Must be self motivated, fast learner, and work well with others.The candidates must have a passion for quality and a basic knowledge of test process and must be familiar with both white box and blackbox testing.
Description of Required Knowledge and Skills
A technical background with some understanding of I/O hardware and system software. Exposure to and awareness of various testing methodologies, as well as experience in writing and reviewing test plans. You must be able to install and configure the Unix operating system, configure the kernel, and occasionally install PCI cards, disks, and cables.
